This is so sad :( This was by far the best Korean restaurant! We traveled 30 minutes in special occasions to eat here. I hope they are all okay and that they open up another location soon They are severely missed!!! Vicki

Got seated right away on a saturday night around 6 pm. We ordered seafood pancake, bulgogi, kalbi, boodae jiage, and a squid and noodle dish. There were a lot of banchan and you get 1 free refill with it. The food was pretty good and service was very fast. I really enjoyed the kalbi. The bbq also came with steamed egg. It was very filling!

My solid go to for Korean for many years and have seen the ownership change many times but thankfully with out so much as a stumble in the kitchen.... The Banchan remains basic but the house made kimchi is the best... tart, crisp, spicy with a sweeter finish I just had to order some to take home. The soft tofu soup scaulding hot and filled with delightful morsals of seafood was just the thing for a chilly day and the spicy soy marinated crabs over rice was excellent... all available as a lunch special. Service is typically brisk but efficient and prices remain very affordable so a win win.

Authentic Korean food! I ordered Gejang( Seasoned Raw Crab) which is a specialty dish not all Korean restaurants offer, the last time I had that I was in Korea! I would like it to have more tomalley though! And of course they have the everyday Korean food like bulgogi, kimchi soup and galbi. The restaurant also offer lunch set menu for the popular items!

Amongst the modernized Korean restos in New Jersey, Chung Sol Bat remains an old school institution in Central NJ-- from their no frills interior to their classic Korean dishes. We usually go here on Sundays after running and this is the place to have perfect meal to heal your hunger. We usually come here for their ala carte dishes and not for bbq. They serve Korean BBQ on table top if you order 2 or more. Ban Chan- keeping it cozy and old school with kimchi (just right, not overly fermented and sour), bean sprouts, stewed tofu, seaweed ( mixed variety depending on the day), beef shin, fish cakes and the like. Our meals: *bulgogi box - rice, fried dumpling, salad, bulgogi. Served hot and fresh, bulgogi is marinated in house, very filling. (Lunch special throughout the week) $18.99 *galbi hot stone bowl- rice in hot stone pot, veggies and cut up galbi. This is part of their lunch specials as well. $16.99 *combo special- galbi and soon do boo - served in a hot platter, about 2 strips of galbi, soon do boo in a hot stone pot, and a bowl of rice. I like this better than their galbi hot stone bowl because of the strips and it's easier to eat. $18.99 Service is friendly, quiet and helpful. Our glasses were always topped off with water or tea. They used to serve sushi here but have stopped post-Covid. They have an extensive lunch and special combo menu that won't break the bank and is pretty inexpensive compared to other Korean restaurants. Parking lot and in a small complex off Rt. 1 Old Post Road in south Edison.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in Edison, NJ. I've been here twice with my family. Whenever I'm in the area and we are craving Korean food, we stop here. Food is affordable and flavorful. Portions are generous. They even have Korean barbecue. Service is on point. It's located at a small strip mall so there is parking. When it comes to food, we've ordered jajang myun (black bean noodles), soondoobu jigae (spicy soft tofu with seafood and vegetables), seafood pancake, and duk boki (spicy rice cakes with egg and fishcakes). All the foods are well portioned. Duk boki and jajang myun are well made. The savory spicy flavor that comes from the duk boki dish is incredible. Delicious, plentiful, fresh ban chan is also given to you at the beginning, which is complimentary. The seafood pancake is crispy and well-portioned. The restaurant gives off a homey atmosphere. The chairs felt a bit high though (haha). The server always fills your cup with water and refills your ban chan dishes whenever it is empty. The food comes out quite fast as well so you aren't waiting forever for food. I will be back!

Grabbed lunch today with a friend from work. Service was good and the food was excellent. Started with banchan which contained kimchi as well as a tofu dish amongst others. All very good and a great way to start off the meal. I ordered the Bulgogi Gob-dol. Thin sliced beef in a hot stoneware bowl with rice and vegetables, and a fried egg on top. The flavor of the beef was fantastic and overall the dish was really tasty. The lunch special price for this dish made my total price come in under $20, even including a 20% tip for our server. Banchan, hot tea, and an entree for less than $20 with tax/tip is relatively unheard of these days. Loved the food and the great value. Will definitely go back soon.

Atmosphere: 4 Upon being seated, I started coughing a lot. It felt like there was some irritants in the air. The restaurant interior was like walking into a local mom and pop shop in Korea. So it felt homey, but could use some updating. FYI, there is no drink menu. At least, we weren't given one, and on the main menu, there were no soft drinks either. So we just asked for water. Portion: 5 There is an abundance of food with the ban chan (side dishes on the house). I ordered the shredded beef stew (yukgaejang) in a stone pot around 6-ish inches. Plenty of stew, and it came with a packed bowl of sweet rice. Flavors: 5 The pickles were well fermented and I appreciated the variety of textures between all the side dishes. The stew had nice depth of flavor. Although everything is slightly saltier than I prefer, I do like that the stew had a lot of flavor and wasn't one dimension. The spiciness is just right with lots of umami. Overall, I'd go again and try something different. There are tons of classic choices available and even had tables for Korean grilling.
